Honda's New Formula 1 Engine
Friday, October 18th, 2013McLaren Honda have released the sound of their new turbocharged 1.6-liter direct injection V6 engine. Due to new Formula 1 regulation, it requires all teams to switch to turbocharged V6 engines paired with an energy recovery system. For several years Formula 1 teams have been using V8 and V10 engines to power their cars. The reason why regulation has changed is to improve the image of Formula 1 racing by being a test bed for environmentally-friendly technology, provides technical and engineering challenges for the teams, and by creating more interesting races.
